Islamabad: In a bid to address the concerns of rising inflation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized that controlling inflation is the foremost priority of his government, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. During his inaugural cabinet meeting, he asserted that overpricing during Ramadan will not be tolerated.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep concern over the burden of inflation on the people, highlighting that while subsidies are being provided to certain segments, the common citizens are still grappling with soaring prices.
Furthermore, PM Shehbaz Sharif underscored the government’s commitment to combat tax evasion, warning that both tax evaders and officials aiding in tax evasion will face strict consequences.
Addressing the issue of potential overpricing and hoarding during Ramadan, the Prime Minister firmly stated that any increase in the prices of essential commodities is unacceptable.
He emphasized that economic revival and curbing inflation remain top priorities for his government.
The inaugural cabinet meeting was attended by newly appointed federal ministers, signifying the start of their official duties under PM Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership.

Earlier in the day, President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to the 19-member federal cabinet, including prominent figures like Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, and Ishaq Dar, among others.
PM Shehbaz Sharif had previously recommended a list of lawmakers for appointment as federal ministers, aiming to strengthen his cabinet for effective governance.
