Sindh teachers will receive certified licenses

KARACHI: The Sindh government has taken a groundbreaking step for Pakistan by instituting a licensing system for teachers in the province.

This innovative program targets teachers who have completed a four-year B.Ed degree and requires them to pass a rigorous test in order to qualify for the coveted licenses.

The licensing process will be handled by Sindh Testing Services, which is a significant departure from traditional practices.

The call for applications has been made public, and aspiring teachers have until January 11 to submit their applications. Successful candidates will be granted licenses, which will open the door to elementary teaching positions at the grade 16 level throughout the province.

This strategic move demonstrates the Sindh government’s commitment to raising educational standards.

Caretaker Education Minister Raina Hussain stated that the licensing scheme is being implemented to improve the capacity and proficiency of Sindh teachers across the province.

This game-changing measure not only establishes a precedent for educational reform in Sindh, but it also represents a proactive approach to ensuring quality education by raising the bar for teacher qualifications and competencies.

At BPS-16, 400 new positions for Elementary School Teachers (eligible to teach grades 1-8) were created across Sindh.

Previously, Junior Elementary School Teachers (JESTs) were inducted into BPS-14 and had to have a bachelor’s degree in any field. These new positions are only available to graduates of the BEd degree program who have also passed the licensing exam.
