National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) in Pakistan’s financial hub, Karachi, received Rs1000 notes that were blank on one side, raising serious concerns among the general public.
In a video that went viral on social media, a bank manager showed that at least four misprinted currency notes of the Rs1000 denomination issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
“One side of the notes are printed and the other is completely blank,” he said.

The NBP branch manager mentioned receiving bundles of misprinted Rs1000 notes from the central bank, which raised concerns about the distribution of such currency notes.

The customer of National Bank stated that he withdrew money from the government-owned commercial bank and discovered that two of the 1000-rupee currency notes were only printed on one side.
SBP Decides to Probe Misprinting of Rs1,000 Notes
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has started an investigation into the recent matter of misprinting of Rs 1,000 currency notes at the National Bank of Pakistan in Karachi.
The spokesperson of the Central Bank said that the matter has been sent to the heads of the concerned departments and launched an investigation to find the cause of the defect.
Earlier this year, the State Bank announced to launch the newly designed series of new banknotes to curb counterfeit currency and encourage large-scale economy documentation.
