Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin secured his fifth term in office, winning the election with an impressive 88% of the vote.
According to Russian media reports, more than 80 million Russians, including Putin himself, cast their votes online. Voter turnout exceeded 67% by the end of the voting period. Notably, this election marked the first time voters from 29 regions participated in online voting.
On the final day of polling, bustling scenes were witnessed outside polling stations across the country. Authorities arrested 74 individuals nationwide for attempting to disrupt the electoral process.
While Putin’s re-election garnered widespread support domestically, it also sparked rallies against him in Germany and France.
