ISLAMABAD: Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) has announced the implementation of the National Curriculum of Pakistan 2022-23 from the academic year 2024 onwards.

This curriculum, notified by the Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training, Government of Pakistan, will be applied to grades IX and XI for subjects including English Compulsory, Urdu Compulsory, Pakistan Studies, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, and Computer Science. For grades X and XII, the curriculum will be implemented from the academic year 2025

. The implementation will be based on Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) rather than textbooks, aiming to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students.

The Federal Board has provided a list of recommended books by various publishers for reference, while institutions have the flexibility to use other valid instructional materials.

The curricula and SLOs will soon be available on the FBISE website, along with model question papers and instructional guidelines. Publishers have been identified for different subjects, ensuring quality educational resources for students.
