HARNAI: Rescue officials have completed the rescue operation in Harnai, Balochistan where a gas explosion left 18 miners trapped underground in a coal mine on Tuesday.

According to the official report, the dead bodies of 12 miners have been recovered and six others rescued in injured condition today. The incident occurred in the Zardallu area near Harnai where part of a coal mine collapsed after the explosion.

Balochistan’s Chief Inspector of Mines, Abdul Ghani Baloch on Wednesday morning said, “The rescue operation has just been completed.” The bodies and injured were rushed to the hospital.

Yesterday, the chief inspectors of mines initiated the rescue mission. He stated that 20 miners had been inside the mine when a methane gas explosion occurred overnight. He stated that rescue teams retrieved 12 bodies and transported the survivors to the hospital.

PM Shehbaz expresses deep grief over Harnai coal mine incident

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives as a result of the explosion in the coal mine in Harnai. Condoling the bereaved families, he prayed for the departed souls.

PM office media wing in a statement said that the PM has directed authorities to accelerate efforts for the rescue of remaining miners. He said all possible medical treatment be provided to the injured miners.

The prime minister also directed to provide all possible medical aid to the injured miners as a result of the accident. The Prime Minister said such incidents are very painful and sad. He said we stand with the affected families in this hour of grief.
