ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s national football team will take on Jordan today in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifier match at the Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad at 2 pm (PST) followed by an away fixture in Jordan on Mar 26.
AFC Asian Cup 2023 finalists arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday night to compete with their hosts. In their previous matches, Jordan from Group G lost a WCQ match against Saudi Arabia and a tied match result against Tajikistan.
The Jordan Men National Team will play on Pakistani soil after 18 years. Their last visit to Pakistan was in 2006 when the Middle East nation defeated the hosts by 3-0 in an AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers game.

The Jordanian team reached Islamabad from Muscat and was received by the Ambassador of Jordan in Pakistan at the airport. The Jordanian team was escorted from the airport to the hotel under tight security.
Last October, the Pakistan men’s football team beat Cambodia 1-0 to win their first-ever FIFA World Cup qualifier in Islamabad. In the second round, Pakistan subsequently lost 4-0 to Saudi Arabi and lost 6-1 to Tajikistan at the same venue.
Pakistan football team captain Easah Zaheer Suliman has requested the local fans to fill the Jinnah Stadium to support Pakistan MNT. He said that the crowd’s presence will help bring out the best in players.
