LAHORE: Lahore High Court’s Appellate Tribunal has granted approval to Sanam Javed, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker, to participate in the upcoming Senate elections.
Javed had appealed to the tribunal after her nomination papers were initially rejected by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The tribunal’s decision, announced by Justice Shahid Bilal Hasan, followed arguments from both parties and ordered the ECP to include Javed’s name in the list of Senate election candidates. Notably, Javed is currently incarcerated due to her involvement in violent protests on May 9.
