KHAIRPUR: In Khairpur Sindh, approximately 47,000 sacks of wheat have been reported missing from a government warehouse, amounting to a value of around Rs800 million.
The Sindh Food Department has taken action by suspending three officials: the district food controller of Khairpur, the food supervisor in charge, and a food inspector.
This incident is not an isolated one, as similar disappearances of wheat have occurred in Sindh government warehouses in the past, such as in Naushehro Feroze in 2022.
To address the situation, the Sindh cabinet convened a meeting at the CM House, attended by various provincial ministers, advisors, the new Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, as well as legal representatives. During this meeting, it was decided to set a wheat procurement target of 900,000 tonnes.
