ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema is still in service after being appointed to two key positions during the PDM regime and he is still earning millions of dollars in salary while holding these two important posts, while his wife is also receiving a salary of Rs 500,000.
As per reports obtained by Daily Ausaf/ABN News, Ahad Khan Cheema was appointed executive director of PTCL/Ufone Board on October 12, 2022, but when he was removed from the post of Federal Advisor by the Election Commission of Pakistan on December 18, 2023, he did not leave the post of PTCL and Ufone Board.
Sources in the PTCL and Ufone Board said that Ahad Khan Cheema has attended more than eight meetings of the company and the company has paid him more than $ 100,000.
Sources said that the money was paid to him before becoming the current federal minister and so far he has not resigned from the post of non-executive director member of PTCL/Ufone even after becoming a federal minister.
According to sources, Ahad Khan Cheema seems to be very active on various recommendations made by the company.
Company sources said that there are seven people on the board who are paid money in dollars under the prescribed terms and conditions.
Ahad Cheema was appointed to the board by the Government of Pakistan for financial matters as well as Etisalat, the UAE’s state-owned company that purchased PTCL/ Ufone.
Similarly, on June 2, 2023, Ahad Cheema was also appointed as non-director of Pakistan’s premier company Pak Billion Refinery PARCO.
In this regard, PARCO sources also said that Ahad Cheema has attended various meetings of PARCO and he has also been paid in dollars from there.
According to sources, regarding his political affiliation, the law did not allow him to be posted on these posts, but he was appointed on the special instructions of the government.
On the other hand, his wife Saima Ahad has also been appointed on deputation as in-secretary of universal fund, a company formed from mobile phone companies fund.

Bilal Ahmed, acting head of the Universal Services Fund in Pakistan, said that he was appointed a year ago, on which he is still posted.
When contacted, Ahad Khan Cheema said that the amount he received was legally received and appointed to the board as per the law.
“I still don’t remember how much money I have received, but the amount I have received is in accordance with the constitution and the law and under the approved policy,” he added.
He has not responded to PARCO’s board of directors.
It should be noted that these two couple officers are currently posted in more than one position in Islamabad and receive money for meetings in dollars from two big companies of Pakistan.
