LAHORE: The move to place picture of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on the newly launched Kisan Card was challenged in Lahore High Court.
In his application, applicant Mashkoor Hussain said that although CM Maryam Nawaz had given the go-ahead to emboss Nawaz Sharif’s portrait on a Kissan card, public monies could not be utilized for private gain.
The plea asked the court to delay the decision pending a decision on the plea, arguing that using the national treasury for personal notoriety is against the Supreme Court’s ruling.
The “Nawaz Sharif Kissan Card Project,” which aims to improve the socioeconomic status of farmers in the province and the agriculture industry, was approved by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz.
