The Senate on Friday passed a resolution seeking a delay in the February 8 general elections, citing security concerns.
The resolution, presented by Senator Dilawar Khan, said there were security threats to political leaders, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It highlighted concerns raised by several political parties regarding the security of their candidates.
It further stated that intelligence agencies had issued a security alert for election rallies.
