ISLAMABAD: Like other parts of the world, millions of Muslims across Pakistan have entered a state of solitude known as “Itkaaf” after Asr prayers on Sunday.
During the final ten days of Ramadan, people perform Itikaaf, a time to pray in solitude for the blessings of Allah and in accordance with the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
From the 21st of Ramadan, men will be confined to mosques while women will isolate themselves in their homes so that they can focus on their prayers.
Motakifs (retreaters) will break the 20th fast of Ramadan while in Itikaaf.

Mosques across the country have designated special areas for men to stay during the retreat. The pilgrims end their pilgrimage as soon as the Shawwal moon is visible.
