LAHORE: Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has collected 130,000 tons of garbage from different areas of the city.

According to the media report, on the instruction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz under the “Suthra Punjab Campaign,”  LWMC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Babar Sahib Din said that 25,000 metric tonns of waste were collected from around 400 open spaces.

LWMC teams collected waste from green belts and other areas, besides removing construction debris from 245 points in the city, the CEO said.

He said that 16,000 km of mechanical sweeping and 1,100 km of mechanical washing of roads were also completed in the month-long campaign.

He said that 432 challans were issued for violation of the Local Government Act, fines of over Rs. 900,000 were imposed, 77 FIRs were registered, and over 300 complaints were redressed.

The CEO said that 268 out of 274 union councils in Lahore have shown excellent performance in this campaign.

He said that we appeal to the citizens to support the ongoing cleanliness drive and inform LWMC’s helpline, 1139, or social media platforms in case of complaints related to cleanliness.

He said that the LWMC team focused on all 21 rural USCs in Lahore on the last day of the campaign.

Additionally, mechanical work is in progress at Siraj Park, Pracha Colony, and Saeed Park in Shahdara and Nishtar Town.

Special attention was paid to areas like Kumhan, Atari Saroba, Yohanabad, Dilu Khurd, and Ashiana Road.

He said that mechanical sweeping work was also done in Bagriyan, the Township, and Green Town to further improve the quality of cleanliness.
