LAHORE: The price of poultry chicken increased in Punjab during the holy month of Ramadan, while the government failed to crack down on the nasty profiters.
The escalating prices have put a huge pressure on consumers’ purchasing power, with the cost of poultry meat reaching Rs 650 to 660 per kg in local market. This surge marks a 30% increase in poultry prices over the past month, exacerbating market volatility.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued instructions to the administration to monitor all market rates across the province.
While chicken prices increase day by day in Punjab ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold wholesale: Rs. 405
Live Broiler (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 421
Broiler Meat (per kilogram) sold in retail: Rs. 634
Eggs from farms (per packet): Rs. 8250
These prices reflect the current market rates in the poultry industry.
