The province’s Benazir Nashonuma Program was introduced by Khawaja Imran Nazeer, the minister for primary and secondary healthcare in Punjab, to address the urgent problem of child malnutrition and advance the general well-being of the population.
While presiding over the program’s inaugural ceremony at a nearby hotel, he made this statement.
The health minister formally opened the Nashonuma Center during the occasion. Several social media activists were present, including Dr. Ilyas Gondal, Director-General of Health Services; Dr. Khalil, Program Director of IRMNCH; Dr. Amara Khan of the World Food Programme; Ms. Sabahat of UNICEF Punjab; and representatives of the World Food Programme and WHO.
During the briefing, it was clarified that these facilities would be established in 26 districts of Punjab’s government hospitals, providing children with complimentary micronutrition supplements.
The minister underlined the need to raise parental understanding of children’s health and nutrition as well as the need to change society’s behavior to positively impact children’s health.
Imran Nazeer emphasized that to maintain a healthy country, the emphasis must be on giving kids a proper diet and fitness.
He emphasized the value of preventive initiatives in preserving children’s health and denounced the previous administration for its unethical actions that jeopardized the healthcare system. In addition, Khawaja Imran Nazeer urged the National Nutrition Task Force, interested parties, and the media to create guidelines to encourage kids to lead healthy lives that will be incorporated into school curricula.
The government’s Shahdara Teaching Hospital’s Fistula Center and ROP Telemedicine were also opened by Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. He promised during the ceremony that Shahdara Teaching Hospital’s needs, particularly human resources, would be given top priority by the government to guarantee flawless patient care.

He underlined the hospital’s modernization with cutting-edge medical equipment and its transition into a tertiary care facility. Salman Rafique, the minister, criticized the politicization of patient services and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expeditiously completing ongoing hospital repair projects. In addition, he declared his intention to open the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cardiology in Sargodha and the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research in Lahore.
