LAHORE: Nawaz Sharif, the three-time prime minister, was said to have never experienced a level playing field by PML-N Spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb on Saturday. This is a clear allusion to the fact that he was prevented from running for office in the elections of 2002, 2008, and 2018.
Speaking with a reporter outside of an anti-terrorism court where she was called to appear in relation to a case, she stated that the PTI had originally approached the Lahore High Court (LHC) with the intention of avoiding elections.
Marriyum attacked the PTI for supporting the Senate’s resolution, which was approved the day before and called for delaying the general elections that were supposed to take place on May 8 of next month. She reiterated that polls were necessary for Pakistan and the people, adding that they would not permit anyone to avoid the polls.
Marriyum continued her defense of the level playing field by pointing out that the PTI founding chairman has been receiving relief from the courts. She also reminded the media of the fact that the person responsible for the violence on May 9 was greeted with a “good to see you” comment by then Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial at the Supreme Court.

The leader of the PML-N said that the people knew who was behind the attacks on military installations and other significant locations on May 9 and that they would turn over Pakistan to those who supported May 28 [the 1998 nuclear tests carried out by the Nawaz Sharif government]. They also added that Article 6 should be applied to those individuals.
She also attacked the former chairman of the PTI for a recent article in the Economist in which he discussed inflation, “farce” elections, and how he had “saved” Pakistan from “default.”
She said that the PML-N coalition government had avoided default because of the PTI’s push on Pakistan, and she added that rising prices were a PTI gift.

She also denied the allegations that the PTI candidates’ nomination papers were turned down for no apparent reason, branding the story as propaganda and a fabrication meant to elicit pity.
According to Marriyum, the PML-N was prepared for elections and had made history by being the first party to release a list of candidates that included Balochistani names.
