ISLAMABAD: The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today for the sighting of the moon of Shawwal in Islamabad.
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting will be held under the chairmanship of its chairman Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad. According to the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the meetings of zonal Committees will be held simultaneously at their respective locations in the provincial capitals.
Members from various institutions, including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) will also participate in the meeting.

Zonal members from Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta, and Peshawar will also contribute to the deliberations. Emphasizing the importance of public involvement, Maulana Azad has encouraged citizens to actively engage in moon sighting efforts for Shawwal-ul-Mukarram.
Earlier this week, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a forecast stating that the Shawwal moon is likely to be sighted across the country on Tuesday, April 9.
According to the PMD forecast, the moon of Shawwal is expected to rise on the night of April 8 at 11:21 PM local time. On April 9, the moon is estimated to be between 19 and 20 hours old, with an expected duration of more than 50 minutes after sunset on the horizon.
