KARACHI: Pakistan Metrological Department (PMD) shared an update on the Shawwal moon sighting today. Met Office predicted that there are clear chances of seeing the Eid moon today, the birth of the new moon took place at 11:21 pm on April 8 (yesterday).
“According to astronomical parameters, there is a Chance of sighting the new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH on the evening of April 29 (today) i.e. on the 29th of Ramzan 1445 AH,” Met Office said.
According to the details, the meteorological department said that the age of the moon will be 19 to 20 hours at the time of sunset this evening. “The new moon of Shawwal 1445 AH was born n on crossing conjunction point at 23-21 PST on 08-04-2024,” PMD added.

Furthermore, the Pakistan Met Office considering the climate record stated that the weather is expected to be partly cloudy/fair in most parts of the country. The southern regions of the country are likely to be clear today and the Shawwal moon, which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of the Eid-ul-Fitr festivals could be sighted.
Additionally, as per tradition, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet today for the sighting of the Eid ul Fitr moon in Islamabad and the meeting of zonal Committees will be held simultaneously at their respective locations in the provincial capitals.
