The Punjab police have said both security institutions have ‘amicably’ resolved the Bahawalnagar incident which went viral on social media on Wednesday.
Police said that the Bahawalnagar incident was exaggerated and taken out of context on social media in a statement posted on the social networking platform X.
On the first day of Eid, several social media users claimed that 40 to 50 army personnel stormed the madrasa police station of Bahawalnagar and tortured the policemen present there.
Such unsubstantiated assertions were referred to in the statement as an “attempt” to convey the misleading impression that the Pakistan Army and the Punjab Police were engaged in combat.
The rumors went viral on social media, prompting the two organizations to launch an “immediate” joint probe, according to the statement. After examining all the information, representatives from the two organizations reached an “amicable” resolution.
The statement further stated that joint operations between the Punjab Police and the Pakistan Army were being carried out in the province to apprehend dangerous criminals, miscreants, and terrorists.
