KARACHI: The hit-and-run car that crushed a woman and an eight-year-old boy in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7 two days before Eidul Fitr, has been recovered from the farmhouse of former SSP and current Member of the Provincial Assembly, Farooq Awan, located in Memon Goth, by the Gulshan-e-Iqbal Investigation police.
Inspector Sarfaraz, the investigating officer, stated that although the mother remained in a coma, the child who had been hurt in the accident passed away on Eid day while receiving care.
Police report that on April 8, on the Allama Shabeer Usmani Road, inside the boundaries of Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station, Nooriya Bibi, the wife of Syed Muhammad Agha, and her eight-year-old son Syed Yousuf Agha were struck and injured by a speeding car driven by an unknown individual. Both the car and the driver who caused the collision fled the scene.
The injured were taken to a private hospital that was close by. Later, in severe condition, they were moved to another private hospital on Stadium Road. On April 9, 2024, Syed Ahmadullah, son of Syed Abdullah Agha, the injured woman’s brother-in-law, filed a case at the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police station after obtaining the CCTV footage of the collision.
On a tip-off, Inspector Sarfraz of Gulshan-e-Iqbal Investigation police along with his team raided a farmhouse in Memon Goth area and recovered the car. The employees of the farmhouse immediately informed the owner of the farmhouse about the police raid. On which the owner of the farmhouse, former SSP and current MPA Farooq Awan reached his farmhouse and enquired about the reason for the raid.
Awan informed the raiding party that the vehicle was parked at his farmhouse without his knowledge. He said, his friend, Zahid Awan, who lives in Japan, is in a business of buying and selling cars from Japan. His friend sends cars and spare parts from Japan and stores them at his farmhouse.

The MPA stated that his staff notified him about the police raid, which is how he learned about the incident. He said that Furqan, the driver responsible for the accident, was missing.
The police party also raided the house of Zahid Awan in Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block 7, but found no one in the house. Police are searching for the driver responsible for the accident.
According to police sources, the owner of the vehicle, Zahid Awan is a relative of the MPA, has been sent to some secret location to avoid arrest.
