ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that cellular service will be temporarily suspended in certain districts of Punjab and Balochistan on April 21 and 22 during the upcoming by-elections.
The initiative, directed by the Ministry of Interior, aims to ensure the integrity and security of the electoral process.
It is important to mention here that the functioning of the election process depends on the availability of internet so that the ECP can be connected to the polling stations after the counting is over. Miscommunication led to massive rigging of recent elections.
The decision to suspend mobile communications reflects a precautionary approach to maintain public order and prevent any possible misuse of mobile networks during the election period.
The PTA claims that the suspension is part of wider security measures being implemented to facilitate a fair and peaceful voting process.
