The rift on the appointment of Ali Nasir Rizvi as IG Islamabad started between the federal and Punjab governments. According to the sources, the Punjab government said that there is already a shortage of officers in Punjab and the Establishment Division should use its officers.
Ali Nasir is currently performing his duties as DIG Operations Lahore.
In this regard, the Punjab government has clarified its position saying that if an officer is required from Punjab in the future, permission must be taken from the Punjab chief minister.
