LAHORE: The first anti-polio campaign of the year began on Monday and will run seven days in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Faisalabad, and five days in the remaining districts.
More than 200,000 polio workers are taking part in the campaign, which will see 2.25 million children under the age of five vaccinated.
During a week-long polio campaign in Punjab, approximately 23 million youngsters will be given anti-polio drops. In this regard, the health department has designated Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan as the most vulnerable cities.

During a week-long campaign in Sindh, almost 10.03 million youngsters aged five and under would receive anti-polio vaccine. During a five-day drive in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, nearly 7.4 million children aged one to five would be given anti-polio drops.
During the five-day polio campaign 2024, around 700,000 children in Azad Jammu and Kashmir would be immunized.
During a week-long polio drive in Balochistan, approximately 2.5 million children aged five and under would be given anti-polio drops.

During the five-day polio campaign in 2024, nearly 250 thousand children will be immunized in Gilgit-Baltistan.
If a polio team does not visit a residence, parents can call helpline 1166.
Khizra Fazal, the chief of the anti-polio program, stated that Punjab has been polio-free since October 2020.
