KARACHI: Pakistani prominent actor Faysal Quraishi tendered his apology to the Karachi Bar Association over inappropriate language against legal fraternity in a drama series ‘Zulm’.

According to the details, the Karachi Bar Association (KBA) has levelled serious accusations against actor Faysal Quraishi and media channel HUM TV.

Earlier, the Bar Association issued official condemnation in which they expressed their displeasure with the alleged misrepresentation of lawyers in the show, particularly taking aim at Faysal Quraishi for his purported use of inappropriate language.

Signed by KBA General Secretary Ikhtiar Ali Channa and Chairman Human Rights Committee Zahid Hussain Soomro, the statement leaves no room for ambiguity, demanding an unreserved apology from all parties involved.

According to the KBA, the depiction of legal professionals in ‘Zulm’ has not only been deemed contemptuous but has also inflicted irreparable damage to the reputation of the legal fraternity.

The KBA has made it abundantly clear that legal action looms large on the horizon should their demands remain unmet.

However, in the eye of the storm, actor Faysal Quraishi took to social media, to address the brewing controversy, extending his gratitude to Kaiser Khan Nizamani, a lawyer of the Karachi High Court and Karachi Bar Court, for reaching out to him.

In a video message, Quraishi shed light on the tumultuous events that unfolded following the issuance of the Bar Association’s notification. “My fans and friends were worried all morning.

At the place I was at, there weren’t any signals there. So anyway, I was getting a lot of calls but I’m very grateful to Kaiser Khan Nizamani Sahib,” he shared.

“I’m very thankful to him that he called me up and he asked me what the problem was. So I told him, look Sir you understand that as an actor there is no fault of ours in this, we say whatever is written.”

Actor Faysal said, “Yes, this play had a lot of things that we ourselves, personally, I mean we told them that we won’t say this, this shouldn’t be said, so we didn’t say a lot of things.”

“Sometimes by accident, some things slip through, those can be redacted later on as well. Anyway, this went on air because of which our lawyer bhai was upset, I’m very sorry if anyone has been hurt,” actor added.

Faysal Quaishi expressed remorse if anyone had been hurt by the portrayal in ‘Zulm.’ Emphasizing his role as a mere vessel for the characters crafted by the show’s creators, he reiterated his commitment to ensuring that such incidents are a thing of the past

“I personally don’t like if I hurt someone, because I’m also a part of this community/society, and if someone said something like this about me then it hurts so we will try that next time something like this doesn’t happen,” Faisal added.

While media channel HUM TV and the makers of the show have yet to respond to the issue.
