LAHORE: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi Monday visited the Passport Office located in Garden Town, area of Lahore.
He suspended two officials of the Lahore passport office, including its deputy director, on complaints of corruption.
The interior minister had been informed that the Passport office is one of those departments of Pakistan where corruption takes place at a large scale and in this regard without a bribe, the agents do not let the passport be processed.
It was also informed to the authorized minister that there are delays of four months to get the passport.
After that, he conducted a raid on the office where he discovered that everyone was accepting bribes and that the token machines were broken.

The federal minister was informed by the people in the office that everyone takes bribes, from security guards to everyone else. Regular passport processing takes 15 days, but they have been waiting four to five months, which is quite challenging for them.
