MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today named India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, which will be hosted in the West Indies and USA.
The BCCI’s Senior Selection Committee picked India’s 15-player squad led by Rohit Sharman and Hardik Pandya as vice-captain. Jasprit Bumrah would lead the India pace unit comprised of Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj.
The Selection Committee has picked Yashasvi Jaiswal for an opening slot along with skipper Rohit Sharma. While Shubman Gill, who enjoyed a good run in the IPL, found himself in traveling reserves along with big-hitter Rinku Singh.
Sanju Samson, who has had a good IPL both as a batter and captain for Rajasthan Royals (RR), earned his spot in the 15-member squad along with Rishabh Pant, missing behind K L Rahul and Ishan Kishan. Leg-spinner Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been picked as the wrist spinners in the team alongside Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel.

India will begin their World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05 in New York, followed by the arch-rivals clash against Pakistan on June 09, at the same venue. India will then play the USA and Canada on June 12 and 15 respectively. The T20 World Cup will begin on June 2 in the USA and the Caribbean.
