LAHORE: Eco-friendly transportation in Punjab, Pakistan, faced a setback as the provincial government canceled its project to distribute interest-free electric bikes, here on Tuesday.
According to the details, the Punjab government canceled eco-friendly transportation due to some hurdles, while now the government proposes fuel-powered motorbikes instead of electric bikes at easy installments.
As per sources, the electric bike proposal was canceled due to some concerns over bike features, citing concerns over battery theft and the low mileage of bikes.
Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting in connection with electric bikes, where she acknowledged electric bikes as environmentally friendly but deemed them unfeasible due to prevailing circumstances.
