IPOH: A last-minute equalizer from Pakistan ended their match against Japan draw with one goal on each side in the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup in Malaysia.
Continuing its sensational performance, the Pakistan hockey team is still undefeated in the tournament and is leading the points table after its victory against host Malaysia and Korea and a draw against Japan today.
Japan took the lead in the third quarter after Ken Nagayoshi successfully converted a penalty corner in the 33rd minute. In response, Pakistan made multiple attempts but failed to secure the equalizer as the fourth and final quarter neared its end.
However, Pakistan’s Rana Waheed saved the match by scoring through a well-worked penalty corner in the dying minutes of the game.

After today’s fixture, Pakistan and Japan are prominent with seven points each, but due to a better goal average, green shirts are leading the chart with Japan in second.
Pakistan’s next match is scheduled against Canada on May 8 (Thursday) at 1 pm (PST) at the same venue.
Earlier, Pakistan defeated Korea 4-0 one-sidedly and Malaysia with a last-minute winner by Abu Mahmood in the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
The nine-goal thriller against Malaysia saw some of the best goals as the Green Shirts managed to emerge triumphant after a long 60 minutes.
