MIANWALI: The Rawalpindi Election Tribunal, which oversees electoral affairs in NA 89 Mianwali, has rejected the ex-chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) appeal. The tribunal upheld the returning officer’s decision, declaring the former PTI chairman ineligible for election.
Following the Lahore tribunal’s rejection of Imran Khan’s candidacy in NA-122, the former premier has now been disqualified from his home constituency. He will also be unable to contest the General Elections 2024, which are scheduled for February 8, from this constituency.

The decision was made after careful consideration of Imran Khan’s nomination papers filed on January 7. His counsel, Barrister Ali Zafar, presented arguments in an attempt to influence the tribunal’s decision, but the appeal was ultimately denied.

The Rawalpindi Election Tribunal has affirmed the returning officer’s initial decision, which barred the ex-chairman from participating in the upcoming elections. The details of the ineligibility were not immediately disclosed.
