RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army once again vowed to punish the “planners, facilitators, and executors of the violence that erupted last year after the arrest of the former prime minister” and harshly denounced the mayhem of May 9.
The Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), Services Chiefs, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan vehemently criticized the criminal activities carried out on May 9, 2023, according to a statement released by the military’s media wing, ISPR, on the one anniversary of the tragic riots.
In an act of rebellion, brainwashed miscreants deliberately turned to violence against state institutions and vandalized sacred symbols of the state and sites belonging to national heritage.
Armed forces remember the day as one of the darkest events in the history of the country.
ISPR called it a futile attempt to bring about a misplaced and shortsighted revolution in Pakistan
According to the report, the Armed Forces exercised extreme caution during the planned unrest on May 9th, foiling a plot to destabilize the nation by inciting hostilities between the populace and the military.
Despite efforts to sabotage national unity, those in charge attempted to place the blame on state institutions through a campaign of hatred.
Army said there can be no compromise with those behind the 9th May tragedy; they must face justice to prevent future desecration of national symbols and heroes.
Army Chief, CJCSC, and top brass also reaffirm their commitment to defending Pakistan’s sovereignty and defeating both external and internal threats. They pledge to uphold their dignity and respect, emphasizing their special bond with the people.
