The winter break for schools in Punjab initially began on December 18, 2023.
Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has confirmed that there will be no further extension to the winter vacation in Punjab. However, in consideration of the harsh weather conditions, he has introduced changes to school timings.
Schools throughout Punjab are set to resume regular activities from today, with the revised schedule starting at 9:30 am. Naqvi stressed the importance of wearing warm clothing during the ongoing winter wave to ensure the well-being of students and staff.
The announcement regarding the altered schedule for school reopenings was communicated by Naqvi through a post on the social media platform ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter. This move is aimed at keeping the public informed about the adjusted timings amid the prevailing weather conditions.

The winter break for schools in Punjab initially began on December 18, 2023, and was initially scheduled to conclude on January 1, 2024. Subsequently, the vacation period was extended until January 9, considering the severity of the winter season.
Meanwhile, the Sindh education department has also made adjustments, stating that schools will now open at 9 am instead of the initially extended time of 8:30 am, which was extended last week from the original timing of 8 am. These changes are implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff in light of the prevailing weather conditions.
