ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif tendered his resignation from the party’s top position here on Monday.
As per the reports, now three-time Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif is set to take the reins of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) as Shehbaz Sharif, the sitting PM, stepped down from the party president post.
Earlier today, Shehbaz Sharif resigned from the party position, and now the party will elect a new president on May 28.
It is pertinent to mention that Shehbaz Sharif was elected PML-N president unopposed in 2018.
According to the reports, Shehbaz Sharif succeeded his elder brother, who was initially removed as president by the Supreme Court but later designated as the party’s lifelong leader.

Nawaz Sharif returned to Pakistan before the general elections in 2024, but he failed to gain a majority in the elections.
