ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has decided to close the investigation into the wheat and flour scam during the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) government on Monday.
As per the reports, the decision was taken after the Executive Board of NAB approved to stop the ongoing investigation related to corruption in the purchase of wheat.
Approved to close the investigation under the NAB Amendment Act, NAB recommended transfer of the case to Anti-Corruption Punjab for further action.
Reports revealed that NAB officials are busy investigating the corruption of billions of rupees in the food department, while the case of theft of thousands of sacks of wheat is also under investigation.
In the corruption related to Ramadan package, along with the officers of the Food Department, the names of many politicians including the Secretary Food and Agriculture also came up.
Earlier this month, senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Nayyar Hussain Bukhari demanded a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) probe into the wheat import scam.

Secretary General of People’s Party Nayyar Hussain Bukhari said in his statement that despite the excess storage in Pakistan, the import of wheat has caused a loss of billions of rupees to the national treasury.
The PPP leader urged the NAB to start an investigation into the wheat scandal and present the facts before the nation.
Commenting on the PML-N’s invitation to the PPP to join the federal government, Bukhari said his party was committed to supporting the PML-N-led government in parliament without being part of the government. Is.
However, he said that the final decision on joining the cabinet will be taken by the CEC of the People’s Party.
