ISLAMABAD: The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), established by the Prime Minister (PM), has taken strict notice of billions of rupees going to India every year in the name of DTH Television Services.
Responsible sources said that in the letter written by the Council to Chairman PEMRA in SIFC No. 13/39, a full response was sought from Chairman PEMRA within a week.
In its letter, SIFC Secret wrote that the DTH license bidding process in Pakistan started in 2004, after which PEMRA re-bid in 2016, on which three companies were shortlisted and one was later granted a license.
The company was supposed to start DTH television satellite service within a year but has not yet started the service.
In the letter asked to explain the reasons and give one week in this regard, the responsible sources of PEMRA said that the company that was given the license for DTH service has not taken any steps in practice and is more than 90 from PEMRA.

An application has been made for remission of the amount imposed in various fines of more than one crore rupees, and permission has also been sought to procure tax-free equipment to start this service in Pakistan.
According to the sources, the company has not paid crores of rupees to PEMRA for the license and has not started the service even on the scheduled time, on which the PEMRA authority has also issued a final notice to the licensee company, Shehbaz International.
