ISLAMABAD — Jazz Pakistan recently unveiled its ambitious new app, Simosa, touted as an all-in-one solution for digital needs. However, following expert analysis and review, it has emerged that Simosa is essentially a repackaged version of the existing Jazz World app, featuring little more than a cosmetic overhaul with a tech-inspired design. This has raised questions about its cost-effectiveness and the validity of the company’s bold claims.
In a press release at the launch, Jazz Pakistan described Simosa as a significant transformation of the Jazz World app. The release highlighted the app’s new design and enhanced features, branding it as a one-stop app for multiple network SIMs.

“Jazz World, the country’s largest self-care and lifestyle app from Pakistan’s leading digital operator, Jazz, has undergone a significant transformation and revamped to ‘SIMOSA’ with a new design and enhanced features,” the press release stated.
Despite these claims, experts argue that the changes are largely superficial, with the app failing to deliver substantial improvements over its predecessor, Jazz World. Prominent features include horoscope, food recipes, weather forecast, stock market, etc. The rebranding appears to be more about aesthetics than functionality, leading to criticism from users and industry observers alike.
A development expert said while commenting on the app, “Development cost for the rebranding must be on a very higher side arguably millions of rupees but the team focused too much on aesthetics than providing value addition.”
Sources informed Daily Ausaf that Jazz Pakistan is striving to enter the competitive market for all-in-one apps. However, outdated techniques, gimmicky features, and a lack of significant value addition are seen as major obstacles. This is not the first time Jazz has faced such challenges. Their previous attempt with the BiP app, a messaging and all-in-one platform, ended in failure despite millions of rupees in investment in development, research, and promotion.
The race to create a successful all-in-one app in Pakistan is heating up, with several major players vying for dominance. However, none have yet delivered on their promises to provide a comprehensive and user-friendly solution. Simosa’s disappointing launch is a reminder of the challenges that lie ahead for companies in this space.
As Jazz Pakistan continues its efforts to innovate and expand its digital offerings, it remains to be seen whether Simosa will evolve to meet the high expectations set by its creators. For now, it serves as a cautionary tale about the perils of overpromising and under delivering in the tech industry.
