ISLAMABAD: After the Lahore High Court dismissed a petition against the appointment of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as deputy prime minister on Thursday, the move was challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday.
A citizen named Fahad Shabbir submitted a plea against Ishaq Dar’s appointment arguing that it is a violation of Article 4 of the Constitution. He said the federal government violated the constitution by appointing Dar as deputy prime minister.
The petitioner through Advocate Nadeem Sarwar requested that the notification of Dar’s appointment be declared null and void and he be barred from work till the final decision of the case.

Principal secretary to the prime minister, Cabinet Division secretary, and Ishaq Dar have been made parties in the petition.
Yesterday, the Lahore High Court dismissed a writ petition challenging the appointment of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as deputy prime minister.
Petitioner Ashba Kamran contended that there was no provision in the Constitution for the office of deputy prime minister. She said the respondent was appointed deputy prime minister merely through a notification.
She asked the court to set aside the appointment of Mr Dar for being unconstitutional.
