Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep concern over the situation in Kyrgyzstan and has directed the Pakistani Ambassador to provide all possible assistance to Pakistani students.
In order to help and support the students, the Prime Minister has instructed the Pakistani ambassador in Kyrgyzstan to visit the dorms and interact with the students.
The envoy from Pakistan stated that the incident did not result in the deaths of Pakistanis and that the embassy was providing assistance to the injured students.
The prime minister gave him instructions to communicate with the parents of the students in Kyrgyzstan regularly and to provide them with updates.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Pakistani embassy in Kyrgyzstan to provide medical support to any injured Pakistani students and arrange the return of injured students who wish to come back to Pakistan, as the government will bear their travel expenses.
“I am personally keeping an eye on the situation in Kyrgyzstan and will not abandon my students; our government is in communication with the Kyrgyzstani government as well,” the prime minister declared.
In Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, there have been violent altercations between student groups; there have been reports of attackers using batons.
