LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) Tuesday approved the bail plea of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in a case relating to illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.
LHC’s Justice Sultan Tanveer Ahmad announced the court verdict reserved earlier. During the hearing, the counsel for the PTI leader told the court that the case was registered against him by the Anti-Corruption Establishment after two years.
The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) counsel told the court that ACE had lodged the case against Elahi in accordance with the law and arrested him on October 25, 2023.
The former chief minister had moved LHC for post-arrest bail. On April 28, the High Court has fixed Elahi’s petition for a hearing in May.
