Cricket Australia has launched its Multicultural Ambassador Program, naming 54 diverse individuals from government, business, sport, media, and community as inaugural representatives.
As a component of the Australian Cricket Multicultural Action Plan, this program seeks to advance inclusivity and foster constructive change within cricket as well as in the larger community.
The plan’s objectives in areas including participation, high performance, representation, communication, and events would be supported by ambassadors, including Usman Khawaja, Mel Jones, Wasim Akram, Ravi Shastri, Fawad Ahmed, and others.
The CEO of Cricket Australia, Nick Hockley, underlined the program’s dedication to inclusivity and diversity, emphasizing its goal of expanding possibilities and dismantling obstacles in cricket. Ambassadors will provide guidance and leadership to promote connections within the sport.
Appointed for an initial term of two years, the diverse ambassadors represent a wide range of cultural backgrounds, including individuals from Indian, Sri Lankan, Pakistan, Indigenous Australian, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and Afghani communities.
