LAHORE: The prices of broiler meat have witnessed a significant increase in Punjab province, here on Thursday.
As per the details, in other markets of Punjab, including Lahore, the price of chicken meat has once again seen an increase, the public faced an unexpected burden due to inflation.
Chicken meat is one of the most consumed meats in Pakistan. The demand for poultry remains high throughout the year, as it is widely used in all kinds of dishes.
In late April and early May, the price of chicken dropped and was available at Rs 400 per kg. But within a few weeks, the price of chicken rose to Rs 120-150.
Retailers in Lahore, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad are violating the government price list by selling chicken meat at exorbitant prices.
According to official rates, one kg of chicken meat costs Rs 438 while retailers are selling it at Rs 500-550 without disclosing the price in their shops. Citizens facing a hike in utility bills and other basic food items lamented price manipulation by the chicken mafia.

These prices reflect the current market rates in Punjab poultry industry.
