ISLAMABAD: Pakistan hailed the International Court of Justice’s (IJC) verdict on the Gaza war, demanding “immediate and unconditional” implementation of the court’s orders against Israel’s aggression in Rafah, here on Saturday.
As per the Foreign Office’s statement, “Pakistan welcomes the ICJ’s additional provisional measures requiring Israel to continue its military operations in Rafah in line with its obligations under the Genocide Convention and the worsening humanitarian situation facing civilians.” It is ordered to stop immediately.”
FO has also demanded immediate and unconditional implementation of the ICJ’s latest orders as well as its previous orders of January 26 and March 28.
The FO’s remarks came as the ICJ called on Tel Aviv to immediately stop its military offensive and any other action in Rafah Governorate that would worsen the living conditions of the Palestinian group in Gaza. I may suffer damage that may cause its physical destruction.
The court also demanded that the Rafah border crossing be kept open for the unimpeded delivery of urgently needed basic services and humanitarian aid on a large scale.

The Court urged effective measures to ensure unfettered access to the Gaza Strip by any commission of inquiry, fact-finding mission, or other investigative body by the competent United Nations bodies to investigate allegations of genocide. It has also demanded Israel submit a report. to the Court on all steps taken to enforce this order within one month from the date of the order.
It should be noted that the military ground operation in Rafah, which Israel began on May 7, 2024, is still ongoing and has resulted in new evacuation orders. As a result, the United Nations reports that as of May 18, 2024, approximately 800,000 people have been displaced from Rafah.
However, despite the ICJ ruling, Tel Aviv has vowed to continue its Rafah operation.
