ATHENS: Pakistani broadcast journalist and marathon runner Mona Khan has been released from detention in Greece, following the assistance of the Pakistani Embassy.
According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the Pakistani embassy quickly took action by hiring a lawyer to represent Mona Khan and ensuring her well-being while in jail.
Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch confirmed these efforts, stating that the embassy provided consular access to Khan and visited her in jail to offer support including securing legal representation and direct engagement with Greek officials.

Yesterday, Mona Khan was detained in Greece for waving the Pakistani flag during a hiking trip. The journalist later called out Greek law enforcement for alleged mistreatment.
According to the media reports, Mona was held by Greek police for displaying the Pakistani flag during a hike. The accused lamented police mistreatment of her, accusing cops of discrimination. She further alleged that her mobile phone was seized by authorities.
The journalist from the Asian nation traveled to Greece with her son, who remained in Athens while she embarked on a hiking expedition.
