KARACHI: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the selection committee has unanimously decided not to appoint a vice-captain of the Pakistan Cricket Team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.
PCB’s response came after it was revealed that pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi rejected the offer for the role of vice-captain of the Green Shirts for the World Cup campaign.
Taking on X, PCB said, “During Friday’s selection committee meeting, discussions on the vice-captaincy took place. However, it was unanimously decided not to appoint anyone.”
As such, no offer was made to any player, the PCB statement said, adding that the side is fully united, committed and keenly looking forward to the upcoming matches in the UK and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
