ISLAMABAD: Sessions judge Islamabad Shahrukh Arjumand wrote a letter to the Islamabad High Court for the transfer of the appeal seeking Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi’s acquittal in the illegal nikkah case.
Earlier, a District and Session Court judge went to his chambers without announcing a reserved verdict on the appeals of founder PTI and Bushra Bibi against the convictions in the Iddat marriage case.
In a letter written to Islamabad High Court, Judge Shahrukh Arjumand said two appeals are presiding adjudication before the undersigned and the complainant/respondent No. 02 Kahwar Farid Manika has shown his mistrust of me today in open court. “Though the earlier application of complainant respondent No. 02 has already been dismissed in the regard on 30,04,2024, I think & will not be appropriate to decide the is when a specific objection has been raised on the Presiding Officer,” he added.
Furthermore, the letter added, “As arguments at length were heard in the matter, therefore, it humbly submitted to transfer the two (02) appeals u/s 528 Cr.P.C to any other court of competent jurisdiction”
“It is further submitted that complainant and his counsel always tried to frustrate and delay the proceedings on one pretext or other, therefore, the time frame may be fixed for disposal of the appeal,” the letter said.
A reserved judgment on the appeals against the sentence in the Iddat Nikah case was to be pronounced today.
On May 23, the court reserved the verdict on the appeals of founder PTI and Bushra Bibi in the Iddat marriage case after the arguments of the lawyers on both sides.

Khawar Maneka, the ex-spouse of Bushra Bibi, was attacked by PTI’s lawyers outside the Islamabad District and Session court on Wednesday during the iddat case.
