LAHORE: The Punjab government has unveiled Pakistan’s first e-cattle market app in preparation for Eid-ul-Azha 2024, here on Wednesday.
As per the details, developed in collaboration with Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Al-Shafi Group of Companies, this innovative platform allows citizens to buy sacrificial animals online, revolutionizing the traditional market experience.
E-Cattle Market App
The newly launched e-Cattle Market app offers a comprehensive and user-friendly interface where buyers can browse through a vast database of sacrificial animals.
The app provides detailed information on each animal’s photos and videos, weight and prices, with the added convenience of direct contact with dealers.
Ebrahim Tariq Shafi, chairman of Cattle Market and Management Company, emphasized the benefits of the app and said, “With this app, citizens can now order the animal of their choice without visiting the crowded markets. This initiative will not only reduce the crowd. There will be a reduction, but time and petrol are also saved.”
Features & secure transactions through APP
One of the standout features of the app is that users can set their desired price range through a price filter, which results in more tailored search results. Once an animal is selected, vendors can contact buyers directly, enhancing the personalized experience.
To protect users from potential fraud, the app ensures that payments are made only after the animal has been received and approved by the buyer. This secure transaction process has been widely welcomed by the public, offering a layer of security and assurance during transactions.
Influence & public acceptance
Since its launch, the e-cattle market initiative has seen its business grow from Rs 3 billion to Rs 14 billion, reflecting its rapid acceptance and success.
The public has responded positively to the e-cattle market, particularly in the wake of ongoing health concerns, appreciating the convenience and ability to avoid crowded market visits.
Shafi further shed light on the wider implications of the app, noting that it represents an important step towards digital transformation in Pakistan. “This initiative marks a significant step in integrating technology with traditional practices, setting a precedent for future digital innovation in the country,” he remarked.
