Islamabad: The federal government on Tuesday announced to provide 22,000 motorcycles to women across the country under the Prime Minister’s Strategic Reform Initiatives for Women’s Mobility- Women on Wheels.
As per the Economic Survey launched on Tuesday, the Rs 4,476.17 million project aims to increase women’s access and mobility by providing them with motorcycles and scooties at subsidized rates.
Women from Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan are eligible to apply for this scheme.
According to the survey, the initiative will help women working in government or semi-government organizations as well as business women, students, teachers and healthcare professionals.
As directed by the government, the National Commission on Status of Women (NCSW) will implement the programme. Women will get motorcycles on monthly payment basis of Rs. 2,500 and Rs 3,000 scooters will be distributed from August to November.
Earlier, Chief Minister Punjab launched a project to provide 20,000 bikes to students across the province under the Chief Minister’s Youth Initiative.
With this initiative by Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, female students can get motorcycles and e-bikes through easy monthly installment plans in which male students have the option of paying Rs 11,676 per month, while female students are offered Rs 7,325 per month. can benefit from.
The initiative, which will be launched in phases, will be launched in key cities including Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi and Lahore.
