Khawar Maneka filed a lawsuit against Khan and Bushra Bibi’s marriage in an Islamabad trial court.
ISLAMABAD: On Monday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) heard a motion by Bushra Bibi, the former first lady and wife of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, contesting a plea brought forth by her former spouse, Khawar Maneka, that questioned their marriage.
Maneka’s petition alleging that her marriage to the PTI founder was “fraudulent” and “un-Islamic” has been dismissed by Bushra in her plea.
Maneka filed a lawsuit against Khan and Bushra Bibi’s marriage in an Islamabad district and sessions court last month. His appeal was made just one day after the PTI chief’s nikah was contested by petitioner Muhammad Hanif, who withdrew his own similar case “due to technical reasons.”
But Bushra Bibi, through her attorney, Barrister Salman Akram Raja, has filed a motion with the IHC, arguing that a trial court lacks jurisdiction to hear the matter and dismissing its admissibility.
In her request, she claimed that in their verdicts the high courts declared marriages in iddat to be irregular, not canceled.
The suit additionally disputed that Bushra’s ex-husband falsely claimed marriage during iddat based on fake and fabricated documents, filing a complaint under malice for malicious objectives.
The petition stated that Maneka verbally divorced Bushra three times on April 15, 2017, and that he had divorced her on November 14, 2017. While the former first lady moved to her mother’s residence in August 2017, and resided there till her marriage with PTI founder on January 1, 2018.
Khan’s wife has petitioned the IHC to declare the order made on January 11 by the extra sessions judge East “null and void”.
It further stated that the case need to be dropped and the trial court’s actions ought to be suspended while the application is being considered.

Bushra’s former spouse referred to the nikkah as fictitious, asserting that the union was consummated amid her iddat, the period of seclusion a woman experiences following a divorce or the passing of her spouse.

Maneka restated his claims from the interview in his petition against the fraudulent marriage, saying that PTI leader Imran had “stigmatized the complainant and his family just to achieve his unethical and immoral objects through intrusion in complainant’s peaceful marital life” and had “ruined his entire life.”
The petitioner appealed to the court, “in light of above, it is humbly prayed that respondents No. 1 [Imran Khan] and 2 [Bushra Bibi] be summoned and punished strictly in accordance with law in the interest of justice.”
Additionally, Maneka has recorded his statement before the civil judge, and November 28 has been set aside for the case’s hearing.
