LAHORE: Chief Minster Maryam Nawaz-led Punjab government has announced to re-launch the Chief Minister laptop scheme for students across the province to help students learn modern technologies.
The Punjab Finance Minister has unveiled the provincial budget with a total outlay of 5.44 trillion with a surplus of Rs 630 billion.
Under this scheme, eligible students are provided with laptops free of cost or at subsidized rates, depending on the specific criteria the government sets.
In his budget speech, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman said that in a very short time of three months, the foundation of Pakistan’s first IT city “Nawaz Sharif IT City” was laid.
Collectively, the Punjab government allocated Rs20.7 billion for ongoing and new schemes of governance and Information Technology.
Punjab Laptop Scheme 2024 Launch Date
The Punjab government has not announced any official re-launch date for the laptop scheme. However, it is expected that the date will announced after the approval of the budget 2024-25.
This scheme is intended to promote access to technology and improve the quality of education by providing students with the necessary tools for learning and research.
Latest update on Laptop Scheme 2024
For the free laptop scheme, the provincial government has decided to set aside a whopping amount of Rs10 billion in the upcoming budget. The laptops will later be distributed among students.
