LAHORE: In a major development, a prominent Chinese company Jiu Zhou has acquired Lahore Citi Hospital in a joint venture with Pakistan‘s TNC International, investing a substantial sum of Rs 700 million to upgrade the hospital’s medical services.
The aim of the acquisition is to enhance the quality of healthcare available to the residents of Lahore, with plans to bring medical equipment and facilities up to global standards.
The hospital, which started functioning on June 1, 2024, now has state-of-the-art departments, advanced machinery and advanced technologies to provide comprehensive medical care.
Shafiq Ahmed Khan, CEO of TNC International highlighted that this joint venture is a sign of a strategic partnership to advance medical infrastructure in Pakistan. He described the successful establishment of Geo Pak International Hospital in Lahore as the initial result of this cooperation.
“A Chinese company has acquired 80% stake in Lahore Citi Hospital,” Ahmed explained, stressing his commitment to facilitate the influx of Chinese businesses in Pakistan. The initiative aims to promote investments in various sectors including livestock, automotive, mining, agriculture, technology and solar energy.
Wang Yanfei, CEO of Jiu Zhou, gave an insight into his investment journey in Pakistan, noting the keen interest shown by the Henan business delegation during his visit in March 2024. “After extensive market analysis, we quickly finalized our inaugural investment in Lahore Citi Hospital. The project on a 10-year lease marks our entry into the promising market of Pakistan with extensive growth plans in various sectors.
The acquisition of Lahore Citi Hospital indicates China’s growing confidence in Pakistan’s economic potential, positioning the country as a favorable location for international investment.
